Gefisol 250 mg is a targeted anticancer medication used to treat certain types of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly those associated with specific mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene.

Clinical Uses

The following are the uses of Gefisol 250 mg:

  • It is used to treat certain types of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is a condition in which cells multiply in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner in lung tissues
  • This medication is particularly effective in patients with specific mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor gene.
  • It helps inhibit cancer cell growth and proliferation by blocking EGFR tyrosine kinase activity.
  • Slows the progression of cancer in eligible patients.
  • Helps to control the disease and improve symptoms in patients who respond to treatment.

How It Works?

Gefisol 250 mg works by selectively binding to the ATP-binding site of EGFR and inhibiting its tyrosine kinase activity. It is an anilinoquinazoline derivative that interacts with a kinase inhibitor that inhibits an abnormal protein called the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). This helps to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells and reduce the size of tumors in patients with NSCLC.
